Construction starts at 10-acre industrial development

Construction has begun on a 10-acre industrial development in Leigh, Greater Manchester.

The scheme – located on Greenfold Way – has been brought forward by Property Alliance Group.

The development includes a 12,500 sq ft design-and-build unit for APL Aerial Platforms as well as an outdoor storage area for vehicles spanning two acres.

Enforcement company NSL has already let this space on a seven-year lease and it will be used to store uninsured vehicles on behalf of the DVLA.

Subject to planning permission, another plot is also earmarked for development and will offer 15,500 sq ft of floorspace.

Raynor Rowen is the main contractor on the first site, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“This industrial scheme has brought redundant land back into use and will meet the growing need for high-quality industrial space and outdoor storage in this area,” said Frank Taylor, head of industrial at Alliance.

“For APL, the development provides a tailor-made facility with the option to take a further acre to accommodate future expansion, including a training facility in 2019/2020.”
